Alison L. Kafkes, CPA, Principal

Alison Kafkes is a Miller Cooper Tax Principal and a member of the firm’s Tax department and Family Office/High Net Worth Group. She acts as the primary client contact on many of her engagements, which include tax compliance and consulting for venture capital/private equity, middle-market closely held companies and their owners, and high net worth individuals, investment partnerships and trusts. As a tax principal, Alison is responsible for day-to-day oversight of various tax engagement projects and works closely with clients with regards to tax compliance and consulting on various technical matters. In addition to servicing clients, Alison is active in recruiting and training new and experienced hires.

Relevant Experience

Alison has experience working in a variety of industries including distribution, manufacturing, healthcare, and other personal service-related businesses. Her experience includes federal and state tax reporting and compliance, tax planning, general business consulting, Federal and state tax notice resolution, examinations with federal and state taxing authorities, and research and analyzing other various client-specific regulatory tax issues. Alison also has experience with buy-side and sell-side tax tax due diligence.

Alison began her career with Miller Cooper and has been with the firm since August 2010.

Education and Professional Activities

Alison received her Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, as well as her Master of Science in Accountancy, from the University of Illinois Chicago. She is a certified public accountant licensed in the state of Illinois and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, as well as the Illinois CPA Society.
