William J. Major, CPA, Principal
Bill Major is a Principal in Miller Cooper’s tax department and specializes in consulting with internationally active closely-held businesses and their key constituents. He brings more than 30 years of experience providing middle market companies with expert tax and business planning. Before joining Miller Cooper, Bill practiced with Big Eight, national and regional accounting firms.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: Mr. Major’s practice serves manufacturers, distributors, technology companies, professional and technological service companies, and investors in U.S. and foreign real estate. He also consults with several dozen CPA and law firms in the U.S. and abroad that he advises with respect to IC-DISC, international tax structuring and implementation, profit repatriation strategies, and international tax controversy matters.
EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES: Mr. Major earned his Bachelor of Science and Master’s of Accounting (Taxation) degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Formerly an adjunct professor of International Accounting with Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois and a teaching assistant at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Mr. Major has led numerous conferences for the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs, the Illinois CPA Society, the Illinois International Trade Centers, the FSC/DISC Tax Association, the McGladrey Alliance, and the Council for International Tax Education (Bloomberg-BNA-CITE). A member of the AICPA and Illinois CPA Society, he served on the FSC/DISC Tax Association and CITE National Boards of Advisors from 1995 through 2000 and continues to speak regularly at CITE conferences.
