Sue Winkler, SPHR, Director of Client HR Services  

Sue Winker is the Director of Client HR Services for Miller Cooper. She manages the firm’s outsourced human resource services, providing HR compliance and best practice reviews along with short-term or long-term HR support to businesses and nonprofits. She has over 30 years of HR leadership and management experience.

Relevant Experience Ms. Winkler began her career in her family’s manufacturing business where she was the HR Director and an Owner and Officer of the company. Her responsibilities for driving the HR function coupled with her involvement in running the business provided a unique perspective and shaped her strong passion for business and the impact HR makes.

For the past nine years, Sue was responsible for developing, growing and managing an outsourced HR and recruiting service. That experience has given her the opportunity to partner with hundreds of businesses ranging in size and across most industries including for-profit and nonprofit, public and private employers.

She is a trusted advisor to business leaders and owners and an HR instructor; she guides organizations through complex and sensitive issues, helps startups establish good HR practices, conducts HR compliance and best practice assessments, and helps craft and implement policies and procedures to support the business, culture, strategic goals and employees. Sue is a frequent speaker to groups and employers on current topics and issues related to human resources.

Educational and Professional Activities Ms. Winkler received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with a Business Minor from Bradly University. She also holds her Senior Professional in Human Resources certification with HRCI. Sue served on the Board of Trustees for the Workers Compensation Trust of Illinois for 15 years and is currently on the Board and Chairman of the HR Committee for People’s Resource Center.
